“…foreplay implies a certain level of confidence and trust between partners and creates intimacy before the main act.”
The primary intention of the performance series, Foreplay , is to create proximity between the audience and the work of the performer/choreographer through an encounter of the public with the artist’s universe, in the format of a dinner that happens prior to the performance. This dinner is a carefully prepared situation designed collaboratively by the artist and one of Agora Food‘s chefs (Agora’s new food platform, that supports 7 different chefs). This food experience is the opportunity for the artist to approach his/her work in a new format, re-articulating it into the language of taste, texture and dynamics.
This Program was conceptualized by Agora Collective but a continuous collaboration between the collective, the chefs, the artists and the public.
June 27th, 6pm – matanicola and the Progressive Wave meets Pepe
matanicola and the Progressive Wave, choreographers from Israel and Italy will show their research on Deaf culture called ‘bodieSLANGuage’ for which, during Foreplay, they will collaborate with Pepe, our wednesday’s chef; a very intuitive Filipino chef, that is able to create international fusions of tastes like no one else. July 19th, 6pm – Isabel Lewis meets Tara Baird
Isabel Lewis is a Dominican-American artist, and her current work work takes the form of hosted “occasions” that are concerned with composition in the space of social encounter. Within the occasion hospitable conditions are generated for the mixing of modalities from the sensual to the discursive. Similar perhaps to the ancient Greek symposium, or “drinking party”, the occasion is a celebratory meeting of things, people, plants, music, smells and dances. For this occasion, Agora’s Monday vegan chef, Tara Baird will bring her knowledge and creations to the table… literally.
August 29th, 6pm – Tian Rotteveel meets Caique Tizzi
Tian Rotteveel is a Dutch choreographer and musician working currently on the idea of Hardcore beats and behaviors. He plays with the relation between Hardcore and Heartcore which he intends to explore also on the food level, together with Caique Tizzi, our Friday’s chef that normally enjoys playing with the encounter of sweet and salty flavors in his extravagant dishes.
