Urban Permaculture : Growing Edibles Indoors and in the Shade

Permaculture is a sustainable design system which seeks to develop a harmonious interrelationship between humans, plants, animals and the Earth. It’s underlying ethos is: people care, earth care, fair share. Permaculture is one of the most holistic, integrated systems analysis and design methodologies found in the world — and a highly practical concept which can be applied in urban and rural settings alike.

Do you have very little direct sunlight in your city garden and despair of ever producing healthy homegrown vegetables and herbs? All is not lost! Learn which crops can grow in shade and expand your gardening space. Additionally, you can grow food if you have no garden by making optimal use of your indoor space. Herbs, salads, fruit and a surprising variety of other plants can thrive indoors if you know which plants to grow and how to grow them. We’ll help you get started!
