Urban Permaculture : Introduction to Phenology

Permaculture is a sustainable design system which seeks to develop a harmonious interrelationship between humans, plants, animals and the Earth. It’s underlying ethos is: people care, earth care, fair share. Permaculture is one of the most holistic, integrated systems analysis and design methodologies found in the world — and a highly practical concept which can be applied in urban and rural settings alike.

Phenology is the study of cyclic and seasonal natural phenomena, especially in relation to climate and plant and animal life. Because of yearly variations in weather, calendar dates are usually not a good basis for gardening decisions. In this workshop we will be discussing the physiological time scale that is biologically more accurate than calendar days. A fascinating topic to ponder over in the often turbulent months to follow.
